This isn’t another celebrity stunt however, the fabulous
fashionista grew up helping his parents in their Chinese restaurant and feels
cooking is in his blood. His passion for food is genuine and Gok appears to delight
in every last detail of preparing these simple, healthy dishes.
Gok has gathered 80 of his favourite family recipes, all of
which stay true to his body-confidence ideals and are not only easy to prepare,
but healthy too. The stylist-come-TV chef’s main goal is to demystify Chinese
ingredients and cookery, dispelling the myth that these centuries-old dishes
require kitchen-genius.
Drawing on his childhood experiences and Chinese heritage,
Gok aims to teach readers a new way of looking at cooking and eating, in the
hope that he can bring people back to the kitchen and sat down at the dinner
table with good food and good company.
As is to be expected, Gok Cooks Chinese is accompanied by a
Channel 4 television series of the same name, where you can see him at work,
creating some of his own recipes from the book.
